FRANKFURT: Indian summer at the Feldbahn
31. October 2026

A trial event in early November 2025 proved that the autumn foliage in Frankfurt is perfect at the end of October/beginning of November. Thanks to the generous support of the Frankfurt Feldbahn Museum, I can offer a full day of photography with four steam locomotives and two diesel locomotives. The museum's extensive rolling stock provides numerous opportunities to create photogenic train compositions. We'll start at sunrise and end the day with new options for night photography. Unlike other events, the number of participants is limited, ensuring optimal photographic conditions!

31. October 2026, Saturday
Even before sunrise, we'll steam into the fading night and will take the first atmospheric photos. A little later, the second steam-hauled train will join us. We've requested steam locomotives 4, 13, 16, and 18, as well as diesel locomotives D3 and D20 or DF5, for our photo sessions. After the first morning session, we'll briefly return to the engine shed (time for a coffee) and then let the first diesel train run. We'll be using nearly the entire track layout outside the museum´s compound for our charter trains.

There will be a lunch break for staff and participants, after which we will resume operating our steam trains until sunset. The extensive rolling stock of the narrow-gauge railway helps to create varied, photogenic, and authentic train formations! We will run single- and double headers, and multi train-operations. Our eventful day of photography at the narrow-gauge railway concludes with night shots. In the evening, we will photograph new scenes in the engine shed area with at least three steam locomotives that have never before been captured at a photo event!

The following day (Sunday, 1. November 2026), the locomotives will be in service again, this time for a public event organized by the Feldbahn Museum itself: celebrating Lantern Day, locomotives and trains will be festively decorated! Of course, the usual operating conditions of the museum will apply.

Please note that there is no guarantee of sunshine and/or perfect foliage on the day of the photoshoot. The locomotive selection was made as of December 2025; changes to the locomotive roster are possible even at short notice, and no warranty claims can be made as long as the program is carried out correctly.
