In 35+ Jahren weltweiter Reisen sammeln sich viele Bilder an - und wenngleich ich es genieße, die Szenerie vorzubereiten, mich auf die Ankunft des Foto-Objekts zu freuen, auf den Auslöser zu drücken und mich dann am fertigen Ergebnis zu erfreuen (wenn es denn gut gegangen ist), so wenig bin ich danach "Archivar". Ich führe kein Buch über meine Aufnahmen und wenn keine Informationen ersichtlich oder anderweitig verfügbar sind, bleiben in der Bildbeschreibung nur ein paar xxx anstelle der sachdienlichen Hinweise. Es gab auch schon Bilder, an die ich mich nach 20 oder 25 Jahren nicht mehr erinnern konnte, sie jemals geschossen zu haben.
In 35+ years of traveling around the world, a lot of pictures have accumulated - and although I enjoy preparing the scene, looking forward to the arrival of the desired photo-object, pressing the shutter button and then enjoying the finished result (if it went well), I am not a highly motivated "archivist" or bookkeeper afterwards. I do not keep a record of my shots and if no information is visible or otherwise available, the image description only contains a few xxx instead of the relevant information. There have also been pictures that I could no longer remember having taken after 20 or 25 years. I try to stay relaxed and will keep admiring people knowing a train number by heart after 60 years...
Während der Corona-Zeit habe ich angefangen, mich um einige Altbestände meiner Bilder aus den vielen Eisenbahnreisen und Straßenbahnreisen zu kümmern, Festplatten zu durchforsten und zu reinigen - und somit etwas Struktur in die ganze Sache zu bringen. An die analogen Reste muss ich mich allerdings auch noch wagen...
During the Corona period, I started to dig out some of my old stocks of pictures from the many train and tram tours I did in the past. I browsed through old hard drives and some positive memories resurfaced. A bit of structure was given to the whole thing. However, I still have to venture to the analogue remains...
Ich habe mich zudem entschlossen, meine Webseite nicht mit Galerien zu überladen, sondern Fotos auszulagern. Momentan bin ich auf 2 Plattformen aktiv: "Clickasnap" und "Railpictures". Beides Seiten (englischsprachig) werden von mir regelmässig mit Bilder-Nachschub versorgt. Ich bemühe mich, Szenen nicht nachzuarbeiten, künstliche Himmel einzubauen oder aus einem Regenbild ein Sonnenfoto zu machen. Gelegentlich spiele ich mit dem Tiefenschärferegler oder verändere Schwarz-Weiss-Tiefen... aber das war´s schon. Klicke für "Clickasnap" hier und für "Railpictures" hier.
I have also decided not to overload my website with galleries, but to outsource photos. I am currently active on 2 platforms: "Clickasnap" and "Railpictures". I regularly supply both sites with new images. I try not to rework scenes, add artificial skies or turn a rainy day into a brilliant sunshine shot. Occasionally I play with the depth of field slider or change the black and white depths... but that's it. Find my pictures on "Clickasnap" and "Railpictures".
